Artemis is underway, making way from France to the BVI. Weather is always a factor in determining safe passage on the open sea. In this case she took advantage of a brief respite in the East Atlantic to make safe passage across Biscay and around the NW corner of Spain past Finisterre.
These sea areas always remind me of the UK Shipping Forecast. You cannot grow up in the UK without this peaceful, 4x daily, feature of daily life as an island nation creeping into your soul. It’s a rhythmic, recurring recitation of the weather that so influences life in the UK; it’s crept into popular culture to the extent that music legends like Radiohead and Blur feature it in their work. Listen to it. It’s captivating… for me anyway!
Artemis’ first destination is Cascais outside Lisbon. She’ll get an oil change/first engine service before setting out to the Canary Islands, last stop before the Atlantic crossing to the BVI.
She should get to Tortola in December. She is available for charter throughout 2023 and beyond. Check her availability here and book your time. My earlier blog also explains how! She is a beautiful vessel.
Fair winds!
Love the shipping forecast.
Although to often I have been so transfixed that I missed the forecast for the area I needed!
